The workplace
‘The house by the water”. ‘The house by the water is the standard we’ve established for all our designs. The entire design must hang together; the proportions, the ambience, the surroundings, and all the details.’
A collaborative design (1998) by architect Hans Olthaar and owner Peter Kerkhof.
The house by the water co-exists with and endures amidst the elements: sea, wind, sand and sun. The same is true of the modern workplace. A place radiating calm and restraint, with a feel for space, with weathered planks and sand-coloured floors, metal stairways, wood-trimmed doors, craftsmanship and great attention to detail.
A vision, integrated into a total design, combining industrial function, openness and symmetry. A simple, traditional workplace: two symmetrical sheds, with upright planks and sloping roofs, separated by a glass roof with a recessed wooden entrance. The sense of openness reinforced by extensive open spaces in between those dedicated spaces housing production equipment, the spray shop, the presentation area and the offices. The use of wood as a building material is there for all to see – an organic link between architecture, interior and surroundings. You and your living and working environment in total harmony. The sense that it all fits together. This is what it’s all about. Vonder calls it ‘the house by the water’. When you visit us in Enter, you can experience it for yourself.
